Jake Lear will be in the ‘Ham on July 16 to do a Blues Stages house concert. It is a cool way to hear some Blues when the temperature is scorching outside. We have a new house concert host this time so it is always nice to have a fresh new venue for these shows. This is how it works. It cost $10 cash to get in the door and you bring your own chair and libations. You must sign via the internet to attend these shows as we do not broadcast the location of these concerts. You will receive an email the week of the show with the address of the house host. If you want to sign up, please email BlueStages@att.net to make your reservation. Check out Jake Lear’s site. http://jakelear.com/
Magic City Blues Society is pleased to present a unique opportunity for our members. Jake Lear
has graciously agreed to put on a masterclass for guitarists of all levels
in an intimate group setting. Jake is an accomplished blues and folk-blues
picker with a strong emphasis on original songwriting. Topics covered will
include: a sampling of Jake’s stylistic influences (Texas blues legends like
Freddie King, Hill-Country masters like R.L. Burnside and folk-country blues
artists like Bob Dylan). Jake will also discuss his approach to songwriting
and welcomes participants to share ideas too.
This class will run for an hour and a half and will be limited to 12
participants to ensure a quality experience. Participants will also be
encouraged to bring a personal recording device to take the lesson home with
them. The cost is $40 and will collected in cash at the door. To reserve
your spot or to ask for more details, please email Bob Harrison at

JOHN SINCLAIR is 60's poet and activist who has a new movie of his life showing at Spool MFG.
I will be backing John up for a musical perfromance after the movie.
John Sinclair is legendary as the man who guided the rock-and-revolution MC-5 to early fame, and as the political prisoner in the early days of the War on Drugs whose 1971 release from a 9-1/2-to-10-year sentence for possession of two joints was secured by high-profile admirers like John Lennon and Stevie Wonder.
